Background
Esther Porter bags are designed and handmade in East London from meticulously-sourced materials. Each bag is individually made, the old-fashioned way, in an East London leathercraft workshop ten minutes cycle from our design studio. Using the artisan techniques of hand cutting, weaving and machining that have otherwise been lost in the mass production line, each bag is a modern reworking of a classic bag design.
Responsibly and honestly-made materials lend each bag integrity and durability. Buttery-soft, chrome-free leather from a family-run German tannery develops a beautiful worn-in patina individual to each bag. Traditionally-milled, British waxed cotton contrasts texturally with the leather and enhances water resistance. UK-sourced solid brass and nickel fittings that won’t warp reinforce stress points. Reclaimed tent fabric bursts with primary colours in the men's tent collection.
