Inspired by her surroundings, Imogen's experimentalist jewellery takes influence from both architecture and nature combined - from the tallest building to the shyest flower. Delicate porcelain fragments are enrobed in the textured metals of gilded bronze, silver , steel and gold, all taking on an organic twist. Imogen Belfield's hand crafted work represents many hours of careful thought and inspiration. Experimenting with porcelain, gemstones, metals, dyes, glazes and creating casts from paper, plastics and even fruits, she aims to create work that is at once beautiful and challenging; moderns yet classic, bold yet subtle.
As a jewellery graduate from Sir John Cass School of Art, Media & Design at The London Metropolitan University, Imogen's work has won awards from The British Jewellery Association, The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and South Square Trust alike.
'Rockoco' takes Imogen Belfield's recognizable organic style and brings a new, darker more menacing edge. Like waves pounding against a cliff face, 'Rockoco' is mesmerizing: astoundingly beautiful yet overwhelmingly dangerous. The collection is inspired by the fluid nature of the Rococo Art Movement, indicative titles such a 'jagged rocks' convey the sharp spiked points of her rings. Shards of nuggets clustered in mounds are reminiscent of a mass of bubbles, delicate and temporary.
'Equilibrium': star clusters, bubbling gases, spiraling milky ways, and angular meteorites are all at the core of the 'Equilibrium' collection. The incredible colours and shapes seen in the solar system have inspired and evolved Imogen's designs expanding her repertoire into a collection of dramatic molten-like formations in rose and yellow plated bronze and sterling silver.
