Background
Kelly Love is an Australian fashion designer based in London with a label in her own name. The signature behind the label is exclusive prints on beautiful European fabrics using simple silhouettes.
The romantic notion of owning a fashion label was instilled during Kelly's days living in Japan and working with Japanese fashion designer, Sin Nakayamal. Returning to Sydney, Kelly studied fashion at Raffles Institute of Design and completed work placements with Akira Isogawa, Charlie Brown and Fleur Wood.
Soon after completing her studies Kelly began working for the prestigious couture label Baccini and Hill. It was during this time that Kelly developed a taste for the luxurious fabrics and precise tailoring which was apparent in her first collection “Beautiful Side of Everything” launched at the New Generations show of Australian Fashion Week.
In 2008 Kelly located to London where she currently creates her designs.
Inspiration
The SS12 collection from Kelly Love is whimsically entitled: "Pocket Full O' Posies".
Inspired by outdoor games from a child's imagination, nursery rhymes and picnics in the meadow, along with the contrast of old fashioned femininity, vintage lingerie and 1930’s cocktail parties. Grown up fantasy exists in layered dresses with exclusive prints, crochet collars, pleated jersey in dusty rose, French antique lace and floral smudged silks.
How does it make you feel?
Someone's muse floating through misty meadows
