This is a great platform for making contemporary fashion talent accessible to the public, at a much earlier than normal stage in a young designer's career. They were possibly the first people to spot and stock Felicity Brown, who most recently designed for Lanvin as well as selling her collection through the youngbritishdesigners site. YBD should help these future fashion legends to begin building their own design legacy, and enable savvy shoppers to buy a little piece of creative history.

Meet Young British Designers - a new online e-tailer dedicated to promoting emerging British talent.
"Our aim is to put young British designers on the world stage," says Julian Whitehead, one of the four directors of the company. "We want to present their work in a way that is compelling for our brand and also for the designer. Hopefully we'll be a significant development in their careers."

LFW's brave new world of talent shows under myriad sponsorship schemes, including Topshop's NewGen, Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Fashion East, Fashion Forward, Fashion Fringe and On/Off - more than 80 names all told. And a new website, youngbritishdesigners.com, featuring more than three dozen talents, has just been launched, to make it easier to buy original designs.
