Young British Designers feature - 'How to be in Fashion now' - 4th August 2015 Biased maybe, but the UK really is the hotbed for young fashion talent. And no other retai..

YBD and Sophie Hulme picked out by Flossie, Style Fashion Editor – July 2015

High heels and a short skirt always leave me feeling a tad Bambi-esqe especially when getting out of a car or sitting down on a chair without a handy table to hide under. Bare legs only serve to accentuate this, this, well, overt bareness! And even opaques- for me - only help to a degree. I rush around a lot too so am constantly getting up, sitting back down, climbing on and off trains, into and out of cars and it only takes a short skirt and high heels and my day is endlessly more challenging!

So that's why when Winter descends I steadfastly refuse to leave my shorts behind. It may be that they are still well on trend but sometimes I reckon we girls set the trends to stay true to those items of clothing we feel best in...gladiator sandals still roll out each and every season, gentle harem pants/ drop crotch/ slouchy jeans are all having a rather extended moment. And shorts.

Even the summer denim cut offs are still being worn with opaques for at least the third winter running. My own new favourite daily staples though, are:

1. Emesha's Wool Jersey Shorts. These really are the perfect pair of Autumn/Winter shorts. They are tailored enough to be perfect with jacket and heels for the office (and just long enough too!) yet easy enough to 'slouch' down a little and wear with T-shirt and cardie at the weekend. I just can't tell you how comfy they are and how flattering. My size 12 frame fits wonderfully reassuringly into the 10. And, to make you feel even better Emesha only manufactures using eco-friendly materials and production techniques.

2. Sykes Black Leather Wrap Skort. This beautiful piece had us in raptures at London Fashion Week. The black leather is of the very finest quality, that perfect soft, buttery texture that makes you just want to nuzzle into it. The immensely clever wrap skirt conceals the shorts beneath. Wear it and dazzle!

3. Sykes Camel Wool Wrap Skort. As above except this piece is less full on sex appeal and more classic in a very bang on trend way. The camel wool softens the immediate impact yet somehow commands attention all the same. Just stunning dressed up with blazer and heels.

So, these beauties are just some of the ways in which I can carry on running around each and every day in comfort and heels. And, importantly, get to keep my modesty intact. Thank you Sykes and Emesha!
