Jiwon Ree was one of our very favourite finds for this Autumn/Winter. Here was a range of knitwear quite unlike anything we'd ever seen or touched or worn before.
We should have known it would be special of course. Jiwon Ree is a brand new designer at the house of Jas M.B, one of our favourite bag designers- forever. One we have racked our brains as to how we can feature, given they've been creating gorgeously standout, sensual bags for over ten years. Not emerging, more emerged. Beautifully too.
So imagine how delighted we were to be introduced to the very cool, quietly remarkable knitwear of Jiwon Ree. Jiwon Ree has a somewhat illustrious past for her tender years having won the coveted Alexander McQueen Scholarship Prize upon her graduation. This was followed by various positions with McQueen, Rachel Roy and Ports 1961 in New York. She is now Art Director of knitwear at London based Jas M.B.
The first collection demonstrates her already signature fusion of fluidity and engineering in knit form. Luxury and indulgence is implicit with the use of mohair, cashmere and wool mixes. At the same time felted yarn adds texture, boucle yarn adds loop upon loop of vibrant movement. Heavy cable knit with bold leather trim gives this all woman collection a subtle strength and an unforgettable silhouette.
Adding just one of these accessories (which are far more than accessories, more than just scarves, more cosseting than cardies, more huggable than snoods) to a simple outfit creates something quite extraordinary. And the way you respond to the knit is entirely sensual.
When I came to write about how wearing Jiwon Ree made me feel it was obvious:
