We should be floating about in mere slips of summer dresses. We should be wearing denim shorts and raffia wedges. And our legs. Our legs should be at their sunny season best: looking long, tanned and ending in glossy colour pop toes.
But none of this is happening.
Because it's been raining. Because it's still raining.
But all is not lost. We have a brand new young British designer at YBD. A lady called Rebecca Cluett, a Ravensbourne graduate who has created tights like no others. Tights to make our still Wintery legs hop, skip and jump with joy. Her brand is inspired by the hosiery of yesteryear and is memorably and evocatively entitled "hose."
"The inspiration for the first collection from hose. comes from the traditional seam that travels up the back of tights. I love the femininity this line brings to a woman's leg but wanted to create a fun and modern version of this to bring it up to date and on trend whilst keeping the subtlety of having the detail only on the back of the leg".
Rebecca has chosen the most gorgeous colours to cheer our pale summer limbs: Duck Egg Blues, Soft Mustard Yellows, Dusky Pinks and Gentle Whisper Greys. And just along the seam line you will find birds in flight, overlapped rings and graphic repeat patterns. All hand printed in London town.
The packaging is just perfect too. Plain, understated, tactile and utterly covetable. This girl has thought through her brand and her audience with admirable aplomb.
Wear this fresh new hosiery and see your outfits standout, see your legs flirt as they've never flirted before and cock-a-hoop at our dire English summer.
hose. Almost worth forsaking summer for.
