  • Guest Checkout including Placing an Order
  • Signing up to our Mailing List via Email Opt-In

We must have a lawful reason to process personal data and we always ensure that this is the case. We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we fairly consider that we need it for another reason that is compatible with the original purpose.

For example, if you order an item from us for home delivery, we’ll collect your address details to deliver your purchase, and pass them to our courier.

1 a.) Creating an Account & Placing an Order

We will ask for the following information when you create an account and place an order with us;

  • Name, Home Address, Email Address, Shipping & Credit/Debit Card Billing Address (if different).
  • Contact telephone numbers may also be requested so that we may contact you if there is a problem with your order.

You will also be given the opportunity whilst creating your account to opt in to receive marketing communications from us, via email. If you choose not to opt in, you will only receive emails from us regarding your order, including Order Confirmation, Shipping & Returns information.

We may also obtain information about you as a result of authentication or identity checks. In some isolated instances, we may ask for your telephone number or personal identification verification in the form of photographic evidence.

We do not store any details of your debit or credit cards or other financial details other than the billing address.

Lawful Basis for Processing & Storage

All this information is lawfully necessary to process, fraud check and notify you of acceptance of your order &anp; delivery arrangements, as outlined in Article 6 of the GDPR, under lawful basis (b.) ‘Contract’.

  • We will store your data for 36 months. If there is no activity (confirmed orders) through your account after this period of time, we will remove your details.

1 b.) Guest Checkout including Placing an Order

We will ask for the following information when you check-out as a guest when placing an order with us;

  • Name, Home Address, Email Address, Shipping & Credit/Debit Card Billing Address (if different).
  • Contact telephone numbers may also be requested so that we may contact you if there is a problem with your order.

You will also be given the opportunity when checking out to opt in to receive marketing communications from us, via email. If you chose not to opt in, you will only receive emails from us regarding your order, including – Order Confirmation, Shipping & Returns information.

Lawful Basis for Processing & Storage

  • We will store your data for 24 months. If you don’t make a repeat order within 24 months or create an account after your first order, we will remove your details.

1 c.) Mailing List Opt-ins (without purchasing)

We will ask for the following information when you sign up to our mailing list via email opt in.

  • Name, Email Address, Month of Birth.

Lawful Basis for Processing & Storage

This information is lawfully necessary to process, as outlined in Article 6 of the GDPR, under lawful basis a.) ‘Consent’.

  • We will store your data for 12 months. If you do not open an email from us within this time, we will remove your details.

You can opt out at any time – simply select ‘Unsubscribe’ in the footer in any of our emails, and we will remove your details from our database.

2. SAFETY & SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION

Our site uses industry standard secure server technology software to ensure your information is protected whenever you place an order or access your account information. This software (known as Secure Socket Layer or SSL) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us to minimise the risk of this being intercepted before it is received by us.

We confirm that any information we collect from you will only be used lawfully and in accordance with United Kingdom Data Protection Legislation (the Data Protection Act 1998) and the new EU General Data Protection Regulation 2018.

We accept online payment in a secure environment by the following methods:

  • Credit or Debit Card. We currently accept Mastercard, Discover, Visa, American Express and Solo via the Stripe payment gateway.
  • Apple Pay. Please note that you must already have Apple Pay Set up on your device before attempting to make a purchase.
  • Paypal Express.

All transactions are shown in GBP (£), HKD, USD ($), and EURO (€)

We do not store any of your payment card details on YoungBritishDesigners.com

A Secure Shopping Guarantee has been established for every payment transaction made on our site. If any unauthorised charges were to appear as a result of shopping with Young British Designers, you must notify your debit or credit card provider in accordance with their reporting rules and procedures.

3. SHARING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Young British Designers respects the privacy rights of its online visitors and customers and recognises the importance of protecting the information they might provide.

We will not pass on your personal and account information to any other third-party organisation except those of our partners involved in authentication & identity checks and the delivery of any orders you may place with Young British Designers through this site.

Our delivery partners and their Privacy Policies are as follows;

We provide only the information they need to perform their specific services and they may only use your data for the exact purposes we specify in our contract with them.

If we stop using their services, any of your data held by them will either be deleted or made anonymous.

Sharing your data with third parties for their own purposes:

Our Affiliate Programme

An Affiliate scheme allows a third party site or ‘Affiliate’ to put links from Young British Designers onto their website. This can be in the form of a banner ad, a text link, product feed or content unit. If one of these link formats is clicked on, the potential customer will come through to Young British Designers. If a purchase is made within the 30 days, the Affiliate earns a commission on that sale.

As part of our Affiliate Programme with Rakuten LinkShare, they process personal data as part of their basic tracking technologies under legitimate interest. Rakuten LinkShare does not depend on individual consent as the legal basis for the processing of personal data, as part of its tracking services. 4. YOUR INFORMATION RIGHTS

By subscribing to our mailing list you are opting to receive communications from Young British Designers by email. You will, however, have the opportunity to unsubscribe from our mailing list each time we contact you.

Account Holders – Managing your Preferences

You can review the personal and account information we are holding in your name, including your existing preferences in relation to receiving marketing information from Young British Designers, by going to ‘My Account’. Here you can review and update your details accordingly.

You can delete your account at any point and we will remove all identifiable information about you. We will only retain Order ID numbers in order to keep our reporting systems stable.

You also have the right to withdraw email opt-in consent at any point.

NON-UK CUSTOMERS
