We Think
Phoebe English have been responding to the crisis of our planetary boundaries, global heating and loss of biodiversity with how they make our garments, exploring how they can incorporate regenerative design into their fashion practice. "We have been asking ourselves how can we as designers move beyond sustainability, into regenerative design, replenishing and enhancing rather than extracting? Or rather, how can we put more back into the planet than we take out?" Their most recent research and development into less extractive fashion methods includes: investigations into plant dyes, regenerative agriculture, carbon sequestration, transforming and reusing precious textile ‘waste’, and building new regional fibre networks. Here: an alternative route is the resulting collection developed from this research.
