Having studied fashion at university, and worked behind the scenes at London Fashion Week when I was younger, it was super exciting to receive an invite to my first LFW catwalk show with Young British Designers this year.
Hosted in the dreamy Old Selfridges Hotel, the EFTYCHIA SS23 show radiated a vibrant energy as soon as I stepped in the door. As I took my seat, it was fun to see the incredible looks worn by guests. I also spotted model twins, Brett and Scott Staniland, sat opposite me in the front row—which was pretty amazing.
The start of the show was marked by an atmospheric, ambient song, which really set the scene. As for the collection itself, I was immediately drawn in by the cool-toned, neutral colour palette. There was a stunning mix of tailoring and oversized silhouettes, that felt extremely wearable and chic. I really enjoyed the asymmetric lines of some of the pieces, as well as the sheer and silky textures. What I also loved, was the feeling that these pieces would work well on many different skin tones and body shapes. My favourite look was definitely the sheer long-sleeve knit top paired with the silver silk midi skirt!
Overall, I think the simplicity yet put-together-ness of the collection was what made it work so well. I’m excited to try out some of the styling ideas from the catwalk myself into the Spring Summer season of 2023. Thank you so much YBD and EFTYCHIA for having me!
